Now do you see why a home party plans business is about you?  You are your own advertisement, your own walking billboard, your own marketing, your own promotional.  The manner in which you conduct yourself will determine whether you continue to be a struggling home party consultant or a 6-Figure home party success.

I am heard often saying that a home party plan business is not about the home party company.  A home party business is about you, the home party consultant.  I would like to explain myself.  Direct sales home parties are a great way to make sales, but not if you are going about it as I am about to describe. This particular was inspired by the movie How To Loose Friends and Alienate People, which I do not recommend you watch

1.    Verbal Diarrhea, don’t stop talking.  Just go on and on about your wonderful home party company, its’ wonderful products never noticing your prospects eyes have long since glazed over.

2.    Become a stalker, harass your friends, family and neighbors, and when that doesn’t work, take to the mall, put fliers on the windshields of cars.  Drive-by prospecting is also recommended. When the people you are chasing after say no, just ignore them, after-all what do they know! Besides everyone else is building their home party business in this manner so it’s got to be the right way.

3.    Don’t find a best fit solution.  Try and sell them everything in the home party companies catalog.  Shove it down their throats if you have to!

4.    Always be focused on yourself.  We all love a home party consultant that tells everyone who will listen that they are only doing this for the pink Cadillac, white Mercedes, or the big bonus check, or the vacation!

5.    Never deliver home party products on time. In fact, it is better not to contact the customers once the transfer of legal tender has transpired, let them figure it out on their own!

6.    Goodness do not and I repeat do not follow up with home party sales, never ask how they enjoyed the products, what they liked or disliked.

7.    At your home party demonstrations, makes sure your hostess is untrained and clueless.  Simply cut her or him out of the proceeding, after all her job was to bring live breathing and warm bodies to you!

When you are promoting your MLM opportunity, having your own domain name is essential if you want to achieve true success. The reason for this is the fact that you need to be different and not appear like everyone else. One main way to look different is to re-direct or cloak your MLM website link.

Once benefit of cloaking your MLM website link is you will be protecting yourself from the spam filters. It’s no secret that MLMers are notorious for spamming. When the ISP gets complaints about a particular spammer, they will often block any and every email from that domain. If you use a re-direct, then you can get around this filter.

Another benefit of redirecting your link is search engine optimization. If you write articles and submit them with a signature file that has your MLM affiliate website link, the MLM company site gets the back links. And what if your MLM opportunity went bankrupt or you decided to pursue another opportunity? You would lose all of your backlinks that you worked so hard to obtain. If you are using your own domain, you would just redirect them to your new business. Wouldn’t that be a much smarter method for doing business?

Operating a successful home-based business is a time-consuming endeavor. This is doubly true as work-at-home moms in that we are responsible not only for the success of our business, but for our family as well. We must be self-reliant, self-motivated, and discipline ourselves in order to attain success in both areas.

When running a business from home, it’s easy to let the phone calls, emails and paperwork keep you tied down, making you feel that you don’t have time to take a break or to spend quality time with your family. Maybe you’ve noticed that you spend a little more time than you’d like in front of your computer or on the phone. Maybe you see your kids acting out, trying to gain your attention.   Perhaps you are seeing that this isn’t the work-at-home dream you envisioned.  You started out with such noble intentions, but maybe the excitement of success in your business has caused you to lose sight of the REAL reason you do what you do each day.   It happens to so many of us, but don’t worry, help is on the way.

Below are five ideas to prioritize your life and business:

1. Be honest – You probably didn’t start your work-at-home career to climb the “corporate ladder” of your at-home business. Chances are that you started your business with the best of intentions – to be able to be at home with your children, to contribute financially to your family, or simply to have a little spending money of your own.

Take a moment and honestly ask yourself how you’ve been handling the time commitment of owning a business:

• Are you spending too much time on the phone, the computer, etc?
• Are your kids spending more time than usual in front of the TV?
• Do you snap at your children because of the stresses of your business?
• Do you worry about your business – to the point that it distracts you when you are with your family?

2. Make a list – Sit down and write out a list of things that you see that you’d like to change. This can be a list of things you can do differently to limit the time you spend on your business; or a list of ways you can “de-stress” so that you can deal kindly with your family.

3. Log your time – Buy a notebook or create a spreadsheet that you can use to log the time you spend on your business each day. Make a column for each day across the top and a row of half an hour increments down the side. Every time you sit down at your desk, write “IN” in the box that corresponds to the time and day. Every time you leave your desk (or complete a task), fill the appropriate box with the word “OUT.”

The reasons and advantages of starting a home based MLM business are far too many to mention. Working your own hours is one of the biggest reasons. This allows you to work around your family’s schedule. Writing your own check is another huge advantage. No one should be able to determine your worth. You are finally rewarded what you truly deserve.

Passive and residual income can become a reality, which means that you can earn money at times when you are not actively working. The biggest reward of any MLM business is the fact that one gets to leverage of other peoples efforts. This means that you do not have to rely on your time investment alone, but you also benefit from building your team. It is an all-round win-win situation.

There is however a few traps that some network marketers fall into at times. The biggest mistake is thinking that you do not need to build your team. You can start your business without affiliates, but as it grows, it will become harder to keep up the marketing efforts required to remain successful. You will need to service existing clients and simultaneously find new business. This is much easier done with a team.

Many people are under the misconception that a financial investment is not required to make this business a success. The companies with a record of accomplishment will require a joining fee for which you will get a business or starter pack. It is also a way for the company to see if a prospect is serious about this business.

Thinking that MLM is a get-rich-quick scheme is a very uninformed opinion. The bulk of the market sees such ‘schemes’ as illegal and the rest will join, but not stick it out. I always wonder what the problem is with it – who wants to get rich slowly, anyway?
