Once again, Scentsy has been honored by the Direct Selling Association (DSA). Last year, we were recognized with the DSA’s first-ever Rising Star Award. On June 8, we received the DSA’s 2010 Success Award for Social Media Engagement at the DSA annual convention in San Francisco. The Success Award recognizes direct selling companies whose programs have achieved a high standard of excellence, especially programs other companies can learn from and adapt for their own use.
Earlier this year, the Scentsy communications team ran several creative online contests that leveraged the power of
Facebook and other social media, and tapped into the contagious curiosity around new products. Our goal in every
promotion was to inject more fun into the day-to-day activities of running your Scentsy business. Remember the
You’re Getting Warmer Challenge in February? Fill the Stands? Skus and Clues? Each contest ran for five days,
during which Scentsy Consultants, and your families and customers, engaged in active searches, guessed the answers to clues to win prizes, or received discounts on new Scentsy products. The results? Dramatic spikes in website traffic (for both corporate and Consultant sites), plenty of positive “buzz” about Scentsy, and record sales for new products in the new Spring/Summer 2010 Catalog.
We’re thrilled to be recognized by the DSA. But we never forget that all of you are the real heroes behind everything
Scentsy achieves as a company. None of our ideas would have worked without your energy, creativity, and willingness to lighten up and have some fun with us. So, from everyone on the home office team, we’d like to extend our heartfelt thanks!
Scentsy Makes the DSN Global Top 100 List
In its June 2010 issue, Direct Selling News magazine (DSN) has listed Scentsy as one of the world’s top 100
direct selling companies. The Global Top 100 were selected on the basis of their wholesale revenue (in U.S. dollars)
for 2009.
According to DSN, the direct selling industry has successfully weathered the volatile economy of recent years. “While economic indicators were on code red all around us, direct selling fared well,” the article explains. “With sales ranging from more than $10 billion for our No. 1 entry to around $67 million for No. 100, the direct selling industry once again proves its might.”
Scentsy is featured prominently in the opening article with a great quote from Orville and Heidi that wraps up the introduction. You can read the entire story at http://tinyurl.com/22v3mxs.
Recognition like this matters because it helps Scentsy’s Consultants and customers have confidence about the company they’re doing business with. In a competitive industry, isn’t it good to know you’re working with a front runner?

In 2009, Scentsy was the first ever recipient of the DSA’s Rising Star Award. We are thrilled and grateful to be honored with both awards. But what matters most is that recognition like this helps Scentsy’s Consultants and customers have confidence about the company they’re doing business with. In a competitive industry, isn’t it good to know you’re working with the front runner?

Scentsy, Inc. is a rapidly growing party plan company offering a variety of scented, wickless candles heated in decorative ceramic warmers. The company began with the idea of offering a safe, wickless alternative to burning candles in homes and offices. It has evolved from offering a safer alternative to offering a better alternative.
Scentsy’s flagship product line is an array of decorative warmers that utilize a low-watt bulb to melt a fragrance-filled, wickless candle bar. These products, along with a line of Travel Tins, Room Sprays and Hanging Fresheners, are sold through a network of independent direct sales consultants at home parties, open houses and home shows throughout the U.S., Puerto Rico, Guam & Canada.

First, you will want to evaluate whether a Network Marketing business is for you. Network Marketing is an equal opportunity business. It doesn’t require special degrees, unusual talents, and is open to everyone regardless of gender, race or age. However, it’s definitely not for everyone!
Choosing the right company doesn’t guarantee success, but it does increase your odds. Ultimately, your success in network marketing is determined by what you do. It’s all about building a network of people all buying or using the products or services you’re selling. Your job is simple: Provide information about your business, answer questions and objections, make the sale, and follow up, sponsor, train and support.
Go to the corporate website read all about the company.
• How long have they been in business?
• How did the company start?
• What is the drop off rate?
• Are the consumers happy with the product?
• Are there any complaints against the company?
• Are they a member of the DSA (Direct Selling Association)? Why is that important, because the DSA has strict guide lines regarding inclusion into their association.
• Who are the owner/operators?
• Are the consultants happy?
Choosing a company that is not financially sound and well established could end in disaster. An established company will be able to offer much more support and typically a better chance at success than a new company. The fact is that a large number of opportunities for the home based entrepreneur will fail, and drag down a number of poor innocents with it.
You must feel good about the company and the products you will be promoting. Uniqueness in the product also counts, if the product is something that cannot be found in your normal stores and has a market then there is a good chance that you can sell it.
Concentrate and understand the business itself and know the money making potential. Most importantly, always go with your gut instincts and use common sense. If an opportunity doesn’t seem right to you…Don’t Do It! I have yet to come across a “once in a lifetime” opportunity so there is ALWAYS time to take a breather and do some research. Don’t worry, the program will still be there tomorrow.
Honor Recognizes Scentsy’s Commitment to Simplicity, Quality and Value
DSA Annual Meeting
MERIDIAN, Idaho–(BUSINESS WIRE)–The Direct Selling Association (DSA – dsa.org) recently presented its 2009 annual industry awards for outstanding achievement and honored Scentsy Inc. with the first ever Rising Star Award at the DSA Annual Meeting in Washington, D.C. The Rising Star Award is presented annually to one up-and-coming direct selling company that has dedicated itself to achieving a high standard of excellence in business operations.
Scentsy opened its doors in 2004 with the idea of offering a safe, wickless alternative to burning candles in homes and offices. Scentsy experienced record growth as customers saw its decorative warmers as not just a safer alternative but as a better alternative. Scentsy’s success can be attributed to a simple and valuable product line sold through independent consultants at home parties.
“We always strive at Scentsy to bring value to customers by creating and selling high-quality products that warm the heart, enliven the senses, and inspire the soul,” said Orville Thompson, Scentsy CEO and co-owner. “We are honored that the DSA awards committee has recognized our singular focus on quality and value in the midst of tremendous growth.”
“This award further validates the success we have experienced,” said Heidi Thompson, Executive Vice President and co-owner. “But our success is merely a byproduct of passionate customers and consultants, and an outstanding corporate team, who have shown great enthusiasm for our products and parties.”
Each year the Direct Selling Association gathers for its annual meeting and hosts its annual Awards Banquet. The DSA presented awards in the areas of technology innovation, partnership, sales force development and program excellence. The five companies honored during the association’s annual meeting were ACN Inc., Mary Kay Inc., Oxyfresh.com, Scentsy Inc. and ServiceQuest. Oxyfresh.com, ServiceQuest and Scentsy are all based in Idaho.
